Jumping into the Holidays - Gift Guide for Families

Updated: Nov 22, 2020

I know a lot of us are coming off of one of the warmest, most beautiful November weekends in recent history. I know you're not feeling in the holiday mood yet. I know you're all more concerned about getting the leaves off your front lawn than you are about finding the perfect gift right now...

...but get off your keisters and start your Holiday shopping already!

I used to be the kind of person that was still out on Christmas Eve trying to finish up my shopping list. But then one year I finished early entirely by accident and it was a revelation. I was so relaxed and I enjoyed my holiday So. Much. More! Now I take early shopping very seriously, and I'm going to give you a little shove in the right direction too.

You're welcome.

This year I'm going for quality over quantity. Not that I don't try to be thoughtful with gift giving usually, but I feel like this year brings with it some unique challenges. Let's face it...we're all sick of being in our own homes so much. And I don't know about your family, but having excessive unstructured time together has made my family LESS likely to plan structured time.

So, for my first Gift Guide of the season, I'm giving you some ideas for Family Gifts. These are things that will make everyone happy, or at the very least, help you have some quality time together

Because just being in the same room doesn't count!

  1. Parlor Ice Cream Mixing Set - I love that this would let me buy just one flavor of ice cream but customize it for each person by mixing in their toppings of choice.

  2. Top 100 Movie Scratch Off Poster - There are plenty of movies on here for the whole family. Hang this up and see how long it takes to scratch them all off!

  3. Awkward Moment Card Game - Who better to share your awkward moments with than the people who will never let you live them down?

  4. Movie Night Popcorn Set - Spice up family movie and game nights with some gourmet popcorn and toppings.

  5. Personalized Family Mugs - Put your mug on your mug (sorry, that was bad) and never hear "...but I wanted that cup," again.

  1. Qwirkle - I don't have this game yet, but according to my neighbor it's the best family game around. This one will be under our tree this year!

  2. Family Fun Bucket List - Running out of ideas for ways to spend time together? Turn to this bucket with suggestions printed on birch wood sticks.

  3. Amazon Fire Stick - Make binge watching a family event with easy streaming from this little piece of magic.

  4. AirBNB Online Experiences and Field Trips - Feeling a little stir crazy but can't leave the house? Pick from a whole roster of online experiences and virtual excursions, from French Baking to Leopard Safaris!

  5. Family PJs - I get new pajamas for everyone to wear every Christmas Eve, and they all still look forward to it (or they lie well). It's like getting a new Easter dress but so much more comfortable!

  1. Table Topics - If family dinners are getting a little quiet these days, amp up the conversation with these card sets.

  2. Bucket List -Another bucket list, but this time you get to add your own ideas. Write down all the things everyone wants to do when this pandemic is over!

  3. Singing Machine Digital Karaoke System - Everyone is happy when they're singing and your family won't care if you're a little off key.

  4. Electric S'more Maker - Who needs the campfire when you have this little roaster? It's safe for use indoors and can be placed on your table or countertop.

I hope this inspires you to get started on your holiday shopping. There will be much more to come so keep checking back and let me know what you think of these finds in the comments below!
